International Press Release by Justice For The World (JFW) • Human Rights Awareness Foundation
Earlier this year we stated that as of 15-07-2009 we are no longer seeking or accepting donations. We wish to explain this matter and our plans for the future. The are several reasons for our decision, the first being the most essential.
1. Costs
In the first few years, we have received generous donations. Lately, the costs however did exceed these as donations were few. By making more use of new media to help raise awareness we have extremely few costs that make it so that we are unreliant of financial support. Furthermore we have a few sponsors that support us in different fields. We are currently looking for international legal experts and law firms that are willing to support us in our efforts to offer legal aid.
2. Integrity
We understand that we are a new organization and that it will take some time for our audience to understand what we are about and to convey to them that we are committed to our causes.
To avoid endless time-consuming debates from our volunteers that solely aim to invent and apply measures to impress the public in order to receive more donations, we have decided to stop accepting donations altogether.
We offer our services to inform the people so as to raise awareness and we do so without earning a dime ourselves. We wish to work with people who in essence understand and respect this principle.
3. Reorganization
We are in the process of establishing a new board. Dutch resident especially are welcome to apply for a position. Meanwhile we have decided to make even better use of new media and attract support internationally from volunteers. We are especially keen on welcoming lawyers and writers.
4. Our Forthcoming Album
We are still seeking a sponsor or record company to publish our first album related to our online project 'Testing All Waters'. People who have specifically requested for the album right after making a donation at the time and did so keeping with the terms that were set, will receive the album for free once it is finalized and published. With the proceeds we will start new projects and professionalize our organization where possible. After that we will decide whether to start accepting donations again, which is a future matter.
5. Raising Awareness
We may in the future seek donations once more to further professionalize our organization, but it is not our first priority. If we can help raise awareness with our online projects and with volunteers exclusively, then we are content just the same. Our board is for now primarily set on maintaining our website with quality content on international human rights matters.
